|
At the age of 18, Annie Sprinkle began her career in
the adult film industry in Arizona, selling popcorn during
the premiere of Gerard Damiano's Deep Throat. After
the authorities ceased the screening of the film, Annie
found herself subpoenaed to appear in court as witness
for the prosecution of an obscenity trial. She became
Damiano's lover and started acting in mainstream porn
including, Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle, which she had directed.
Annie soon ventured into more feministic porn and erotic
performance art and, eventually, attaining a Ph.D. in
Sexology at the Institute for the Advanced Studies in
Human Sexuality (I.A.S.H.S.).
